Mr. Sheptoff began his career in the securities industry in 1983 as an investment executive with Drexel Burnham Lambert and Sheptoff Investment Group. He was subsequently recruited by a consortium of professionals focused on serving the investment needs of high net worth clients and joined their team at Dean Witter Reynolds in 1984.
In 1985, Mr. Sheptoff joined Shearson Lehman Brothers as a Senior Vice President and developed a unique and ultimately very successful niche as a portfolio manager and expert in closed-end investment trusts. During his tenure at Shearson, he was among the firm’s top ranked discretionary portfolio account managers and earned the designation Senior Portfolio Manager in 1988.
In 1996, Mr. Sheptoff and Sheptoff Investment Group became an independent arm of Raymond James Financial Services located in Farmington, CT. As an early adopter of fee-based client relationships, he managed discretionary portfolios of closed-end investment trusts and unit investment trusts with a second specialization in sector, tangible asset, and hard asset strategies, including future trend analysis.
Currently, Mr. Sheptoff is the Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Sheptoff Investment Group LLC, a Connecticut Registered Investment Advisor firm.
